As Roma Vs Palermo

Our 2 cents worth of comments [Preview]

Roma's Zdenek Zeman, if there were to be one thing which you would want a guarantee on, the answer is goals; Thus you can anticipate the goals to flow today, hosting Palermo at the Stadio Olimpico.

Zeman is not a someone who carries his job by the half; implementing an all-out-attack style which can leave his team vulnerable and at times horribly exposed defensively. Roma have the dubious honour of having scored (+22), and conceding (-19); the highest (goals conceded) compared to any other team in Serie A this season.

Up front, Zeman has the talented and brilliant trio in Erik Lamela, Francesco Totti and Pablo Osvaldo to call upon at all times. These offensive trio who have a total of 14 goals under their belts so far.

Lamela was blasted for his attacking movements and relevance earlier in the campaign, but Lamela have grown to adapt particularly well to Zeman's ways and handling methods/tactics for the team, and raking in a credible five goals in his last four appearances for Roma as well.

Roma's attacking threats, however, have been greatly 'neutralised' due to an inexperienced defensive backline, and have struggled in trying to adapt to the high line and offside trap Zeman strongly emphasizes on in his tactics. The back four conceded three 'weak' goals during their recent defeat to Parma.  The Defensive backline's average age is a mere 21.5 and has only made a combined total of just 22 starts for Roma, which is a cause for concern for Zeman.

Palermo have generally been defensively stingy ever since Gian Piero Gasperini took over Giuseppe Sannino. Conceding just six times in seven matches. Though, Palermo's weaknesses were exposed when they drew 2-2 with AC Milan in midweek.

This could be beneficial to Roma if they can work on Palermo's weaknesses at the back. With a three man defensive line, this could bode well for the Romans. Palermo would probably come unstuck against an offensively strong Roma's strikeforce expected to terrorize Palermo's defensive vulnerabilities.

Our Pick: As Roma to clinch. End-To-End Action is expected with goals flowing; An exciting clash in the making further assured by the Head-to-Head records between these two oppositions. To date, An average of 4.10 goals in matches involving them, with seven of the ten ending with four or more goals.
